1. Is your chocolate ‘fair’?

We strive to be as honest as possible. We are currently doing this with Cacao-Trace: a program for high-quality sustainable cocoa that strives for better chocolate with benefits for everyone and builds on the local knowledge and expertise of the cocoa farmer. It gives the cocoa farmer the opportunity to be more productive and sustainable and helps them increase the value of their cocoa.

2. Do you also have gluten-free chocolate?

We have specially made the ‘0% gluten, 0% dairy, 100 taste’ Hotchocspoon, so that everyone with a gluten allergy can enjoy delicious hot chocolate.

3. Is your chocolate suitable for vegans?

We have vegan Hotchocspoons, chocolate fondues and chocbars. View the Vegan section under the Assortment category for more information.

4. Are there any nuts in your products?

All chocspreads contain nuts: this to make it more fluid. In our factory we work a lot with nuts, also with peanuts. That is why every package states that there may be traces of this.

5. What can you do with the chocspread?

This is a delicious paste made from the best nuts and other ingredients to turn your sandwich, pancake or cake into a real chocolate party!

6. What is the difference between the ‘origin’ countries?

The flavours of our origin chocolate differ from each other in the taste tones that they contain, but are all a pleasure for your taste buds! Madagascar chocolate is spicy and earthy, Venezuela chocolate is dark and fresh, Tanzania chocolate is dark and warm, Ecuador chocolate is floral and Peru chocolate is fresh and fruity.

7. Where does the differences come from?

This is due to the location of the cocoa trees and how it is processed. Our chocolate is made of high quality beans(few defects, so well selected beans) and not roasted too dark (dark branding gives chocolate a bitter taste). As a result, these flavours show the best of theirself in the chocolates.

8. What kind of filling do your chocolates have?

All bonbons are filled with a ganache, except the praliné ones (Nuts About You series). The pralinés are made with different nuts. Pecan, almond, hazelnut, walnut and pistachio. The ganache fillings can contain herbs, spices or fruit mousse due to their filling.

9. What is a ganache?

Ganache is a chocolate cream. It is made from chocolate, butter, whipped cream and the rest of the ingredients used for a specific bonbon.

10. Do you also have dairy-free chocolate?

In general, all dark chocolate – from 72% and up – is milk-free. You can also take your Hotchocspoon in the CHCO cafés with almond, coconut or soy milk.

11. How is the chocolate made?

Everything is made by hand by our chocolatiers in our chocolate factory in Kerkrade.
